Ferries

If you want to drive, look at Portsmouth - St Malo on Brittany Ferries. It's the most expensive crossing, but the journey from St Malo to Saule des Bois is relatively easy - about 220 miles - all on motorways and dual carriageways. If you take the overnight ferry, you get a good night's sleep, arrive in St Malo at 8am, and can easily be in Bois Pineau by mid afternoon. You might want to look at Caen - Portsmouth on the return leg because of the sailing times.

LD lines now offer several routes to France, or try one of the web sites that compare ferry prices for multiple routes and operators, such as Direct Ferries or Ferrysavers,com. You can obtain a discount with Chez Nous Travel service by contacting us for a reference number. 

Air

 The nearest airports to Saule des Bois are Poitiers and La Rochelle. Poitiers is about 45 minutes and La Rochelle an hour and a quarter drive from us. Poitiers is served by Ryanair to London Stanstead and Edinbourgh. La Rochelle is served by Ryanair to Stanstead and Dublin; Jet2 to Leeds; Easyjet to Bristol and Gatwick; FlyBe to Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester, and Southampton. 

Car Hire 

Flying and renting a car is a lot easier than driving down, and can even be cheaper. Hire prices can vary quite a bit, so it's best to shop around on the web and book in advance. Poitiers airport has Hertz, Avis among others. 

Train

There is a good train service from London, Ashford International or Ebsfleet International to Poitiers and onward to St Maixent l'Ecole. You need to change at Paris or Lille. Paris involves getting across town to Montparnasse but Lille just involves a change of platforms, Car hire is easily available at Poitiers and at St Maixent by prior arrangement
